Rachel Elledge ’14 of Rhodes College is among five students awarded a new Acxiom diversity scholarship. Other recipients represent Hendrix College and the University of Central Arkansas.

Founded in 1969, Acxiom is a marketing technology and services company. Its scholarship program, which promotes a diverse working environment, also includes a one-year internship opportunity. Recipients are selected based on academic achievement, field of study and areas of professional interest.

The Rhodes Foundations Curriculum provides 12 requirements of a liberal arts education that students must meet in order to graduate. Each student must take at least one class that meets each requirement (F1, F2, etc.) Rhodes offers many courses that satisfy more than one foundation requirement. These courses that “double dip” foundations credits exemplify the liberal arts education by providing students with out-of-the-box course material.

Rhodes College English major Samantha Smith ‘14 is one of only 20 students nationwide to be offered a writing internship with the national office of the Phi Beta Kappa Society.

   Brice Queener has been named Rhodes’ first Women’s Lacrosse Coach. Rhodes announced in the fall plans to sponsor an NCAA Women’s Lacrosse program beginning the 2013-14 academic/sports year.
   Queener is a 2005 graduate of Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in government. At Georgetown, he was a four-year starter at midfield and is the only player in Georgetown Men’s Lacrosse history to play in every game during his career. Also during his career, the Hoyas were selected to participate in the NCAA tournament.

Rhodes faculty and students will participate in the Joint Mathematics Meetings Jan. 9-12 in San Diego, Calif.

The Rhodes Activities Board (RAB) is a campus organization that sponsors campuswide events like concerts, raves, and study breaks throughout the year to encourage campus unity.  During final exams in the fall and spring, RAB hosts many “study breaks” to keep the student body relaxed and motivated.

1. RAB and Residence Life cosponsor a Pancake Study break during one night of exams.  This is a beloved Rhodes tradition—and is usually attended by President Troutt.

2. All through Finals Week, RAB provides free coffee in the Middle Ground after 11 p.m.
