Rhodes senior guard Andrew Galow play in the 2013 Reese′s® Division III College All-Star Game Saturday, March 23, (time posted on NCAA Live page) in Salem, Va. The game is played as part of the 2013 NCAA® Division III Men′s Basketball Championship and conducted by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).

Galow was selected by online voting on D3hoops.com with 28,104 votes cast for him by fans in a 48-hour span.

Students who qualify for student employment find that it can be a daunting task to choose where to work. The student employment program at Rhodes offers jobs in many departments across campus. From the mailroom to the athletics offices, there is a job for you. But for those who want to branch out into the city of Memphis, the Kinney program offers dozens of positions at local nonprofits that allow students to make a difference from the day they arrive. Here are five of our favorites:

GrowMemphis—Urban Garden Apprentice

Rhodes will take two mock trial teams to the Memphis opening round of the National Championship Tournament to be held March 22-24 sponsored by the American Mock Trial Association.

The Rhodes Singers and Chambers Singers are on tour this week in Ruston, Mandeville and New Orleans, La.

The Miner 49ers aren’t your typical Memphis band—or average college ensemble, for that matter. Their styles range from sweater vest and khaki shorts to beanie and horn-rimmed glasses, and their personal musical influences range from heavy metal to jazz. Together, they produce a cohesive sound that is both unique and reminiscent of Memphis’ musical roots.

They identify as “your local Stax band,” playing songs they dub “popular soul” from Amy Winehouse and The Jackson 5 to their newest rendition of Macklemore’s “Thrift Shop.”

Phoebe Strom ’14 won second place in the category of World History for her paper at the Phi Alpha Theta convention in Nashville.

The Rhodes Chapter (Iota Beta) of Gamma Sigma Epsilon Chemistry Honor Society recently inducted 52 new members. Induction into this society recognizes especially outstanding students in chemistry.

Co-Presidents Catherine Carlile and Allie Elozory presided over the ceremony, along with Faculty Advisor Mauricio Cafiero and Officers Nicholas Jensen, Aynsley Wright and Luke Laudermilk.

On March 21, Dr. Michael LaRosa, associate professor of history at Rhodes, will deliver a public lecture at Texas State University.

Kaitlin Harris has been named Head Volleyball Coach at Rhodes. She has served as Assistant Volleyball Coach at Saginaw Valley State University the past three years and in 2012 helped lead the Cardinals to an 18-11 record, 15-4 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and an NCAA tournament berth.
