Project Pericles is a consortium of colleges and universities that promotes civic engagement within higher education, and Rhodes has been a member since 2004. In December, Rhodes faculty were awarded grants from the organization to promote course development.
Dr. Charity Clay and Dr. Charles McKinney of the Department of History are teaching a Spring 2025 course titled Photography, Stories, and Memory in Memphis that will connect Rhodes with South Memphis and train students and community members in conducting interviews, archival research, and archive creation.
Dr. Eric Gottlieb of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics is developing a Fall 2025 course titled Voting, Fairness, and Power on mathematical aspects of voting theory.
Dr. Hadi Khoshneviss of the Department of Anthropology and Sociology will teach a class on Social Movements: Oppression and Resistance that examines theories of social movements.
Dr. Amy Risley of the Department of International Studies is redesigning a course on The Politics of Migration, focusing on immigrant communities in the U.S.
