Lynx basketball guard Lauren Avant ’14 has been nominated for the 2014 NCAA Woman of the Year Award. The award honors graduating female student-athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in academics, athletics, service and leadership. Nominees come from all three NCAA divisions.

The NCAA will salute the achievements and accomplishments of the top honorees and announce the winner at the 2014 NCAA Woman of the Year awards dinner to be held Oct. 19 in Indianapolis.

A Memphis native, Avant has served as a volunteer for Race for the Cure, Boys and Girls Clubs of Memphis, and at Methodist hospital. She graduated in May with a B.S. in biology.
