Mark Sellers ′15 and Philip "Luke" Spinolo ′15 Present Physics Research on Capitol Hill

Rhodes junior physics majors Mark Sellers and Philip "Luke" Spinolo presented their research "Diagnosing Osteoporosis: a Promising New Ultrasonic Technique" as part of “Posters on the Hill.” The event, sponsored by the Council on Undergraduate Research, was held April 28-29 in Washington, D.C. The Rhodes team application was one of only 60 selected nationwide, and their academic advisor, Dr. Brent Hoffmeister, accompanied them on the trip.

“Posters on the Hill” gives undergraduate science students the opportunity to talk with senators and representatives about their research in the form of poster presentations. The Rhodes team met with Representatives Emanuel Cleaver (MO), Stephen Fincher (TN) and Steve Cohen (TN ) and Senator Bob Corker. They also attended the White House Office of Science and Technology panel.
