Rhodes College has been recognized by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs for being one of the colleges and universities with the highest number of students selected for the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. It’s the fourth time Rhodes has received this designation.
Five students from Rhodes were recognized for Fulbright awards for academic year 2024-25. From the Netherlands to Paraguay to Taiwan, they have had opportunities to teach English abroad, engage in cutting edge research, and become global citizens.
The Fulbright Program is the U.S. government's flagship international academic exchange program. Since 1946, the program has provided talented and accomplished students, scholars, teachers, artists, and professionals of various backgrounds to exchange ideas, build people-to-people connections, and work to address complex global challenges.
Drs. Alexandra Kostina and Jason Haberman, co-directors of postgraduate Scholarships at Rhodes, support aspiring Fulbrighters by offering workshops, courses, and individual working sessions.
When speaking about the process, Kostina said, “The postgraduate scholarships office offers several information sessions and workshops throughout the year, as well as a course that aims at helping interested students to begin preparing for the application process. Once the application cycle begins, we work individually with every applicant to make sure they produce competitive application materials. This year, we are pleased to report we had eight applicants advance to the semi-finalist stage.”
