Rhodes’ Food Recovery Network (FRN) was established during the 2015-2016 academic year and continues this year to collect, weigh, and record food from the college’s dining hall to distribute to local soup kitchens.
International studies and history major Tate Mulligan ’18, who serves on the FRN’s executive board, recently was interviewed by the Memphis Daily News about the group’s participation in a movement fighting food waste and hunger in the U.S. “I really am passionate about using everything we have and distributing it and creating an infrastructure where we can share our resources with the community,” says Mulligan.
To date, the Rhodes group has recovered about 5,500 pounds of food.
