The 2023-2024 mock trial season ended April 19-21 with Rhodes teams competing in the American Mock Trial Association (AMTA) National Championship Tournament in Chicago. Rhodes A finished second in its division and Rhodes B finished sixth.

“Rhodes A won every round in their 24-team flight with victories over University of Virginia, University of Chicago, University of Southern California, and Patrick Henry College, but  due to tiebreakers and formats, Rhodes finished in second place,” said Anna Eldridge, director of Mock Trial at Rhodes.

In the tournament, Christyn Sanders, Maya Bridgeman, and Kevin Caltry were named All-American Witnesses, and Zoe Haug was named an All-American Attorney.

Members of Rhodes A include Sam Frank and Reese Conners (captains), Maya Bridgeman, Cormac Maclae, Hannah Goto, Christyn Sanders, Noah Dickerson, Nina Kellner, Kate Buikema, and Destiny Baugh. Johnathan Burch served as an alternate.

Members of Rhodes B include Bell Tucci and Kevin Caltry (captains), Megan O’Keefe, Gwen Monnet-Yague, Astoria Moore, Zoe Haug, Emma Timmons, Mitchell Leander, Ben Hayes, and Madi Bagsby. Emma Taylor served as an alternate.

“I have been so proud of these students and their success all season,” said Eldridge. “It is thrilling to see their hard work pay off with two top ten finishes. While we are sad to say goodbye to five seniors, I am so excited for the future of Rhodes mock trial and to see our teams return to their pre-pandemic status among the AMTA top 10 teams.”
