Each Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon in the Barret Library on campus, Rhodes students are hosting La Hora de Cuentos (Story Time) which fosters a reading community in Spanish for children (all ages) and their parents from the Memphis community. The event runs through April 12.
Rhodes junior Annie Moir, who is a religious studies major with a Spanish minor, organized the forum in 2012, and now she and her classmates in Rhodes’ Spanish courses continue to engage with the children who include both beginners and native speakers. Dr. Elizabeth Pettinaroli of Modern Languages and Literatures serves as the group’s advisor.
As part of La Hora de Cuentos, Rhodes students read three children′s books in Spanish and then lead a craft related to the stories.
