On March 21, the 2018 Class Council hosted the 4th Annual Senior Citizens Prom in the Bryan Campus Life Center Ballroom. Members of the J.K. Lewis Senior Center, along with a contingent of Rhodes students, danced the night away. The prom is sponsored by the junior class each year, and features all the traditional touches, including music, food, and classic prom photos taken against a painted backdrop.
Savannah Webb ’18, the newly elected president for the Class of 2018 Class Council, says, “I think the prom has stayed pretty consistent the last four years, although each year, the class council adds its own touches to the event. This year, instead of having corsages, we wanted to give everyone a red carnation as they left.”
Rhodes students and senior citizens alike came out dressed in their best for a fun night of dancing. Prizes were given out for best dressed, and at the end of the evening the Prom King and Queen were announced. “Our council really wanted to make it a night that was special and something really enjoyable for the seniors at the Lewis Senior Center,” Webb says. “The seniors talked to the class council members after the prom was over and raved about being able to dance with everyone. They had a great time, and I think our students did, too.”
