Dr. Alicia Golston has been promoted to dean of students at Rhodes College, effective July 1, 2019. She served as associate dean of students in 2017 and became associate dean for student experience in 2018.
Prior to joining Rhodes, Golston worked for nine years at Western Kentucky University in various positions, including serving as an assistant director and a coordinator of Residence Life as well as coordinator of New Student, Parent, and Family Programs.
“Dean Golston has been a tremendous asset to Student Life since joining the college in 2017,” says Dr. Russell Wigginton. “Working closely with her the last two years was a highlight to my time as vice president for student life and dean of students.”
As dean of students at Rhodes, Golston will oversee the following areas: Campus Safety, Community Standards, Student Counseling Center, Student Health Services, Residence Life, Greek Life, Leadership and Engagement, Student Health and Wellness, and the Bonner Center for Service.
“I am honored and excited to serve as the dean of students and look forward to working collaboratively with the campus community to support students as they proclaim a vision of their success,” says Golston. “I am eager to aid students with making meaningful and seamless connections between the curricular and co-curricular student experience. I am grateful for the opportunity to continue to be resource for students during a transformational time in their lives.”
A native Memphian, Golston received a B.A. and an M.A. in sociology from The University of Memphis and earned an Ed.D. in educational leadership from Western Kentucky University. She has been a member of several professional organizations including Student Affairs Professionals in Higher Education, the Southern Association for College Student Affairs, the Association for Student Conduct Administration, and the Southeastern Association of Housing Officers.
