When Dr. Russell Wigginton, history alumnus and vice president for external programs at Rhodes, was eleven years old, he met Muhammad Ali in their hometown of Louisville, KY. In 2006, Wigginton included Ali in his book, The Strange Career of the Black Athlete, which draws on sports to discuss the history of race relations in America.
