Inclusive Excellence Council Announces New Awards

The Inclusive Excellence Council (IEC) sent out a campuswide call this semester to identify Rhodes community members who have made meaningful contributions to the promotion of belonging on campus or have advanced inclusive excellence in some way. The IEC subcommittee for awards and grants reviewed the nominations of faculty, students, and staff and selected recipients for the Inclusive Excellence Legacy Awards, recognizing achievements over time, and Inclusive Excellence of-the-Year Awards, focused on contributions from the current academic year. Each honoree receives a physical award along with a taxable monetary gift.

The Inclusive Excellence Legacy Award recipients for this year are:

  • Dr. Pam Detrie, director of student counseling 
  • Dr. Erin Hillis, executive director of the Buckman Center
  • Dr. Charles McKinney, professor of history
  • Jozalyn Houser ’27
  • LeeAnn Fincher ’27

The 2026 Inclusive Excellence Award recipients are:

  • Vena Hill, Public, research, and technology services librarian
  • Dr. Be Stone, assistant professor of politics and law
  • Johnathan Burch ’27
