Mortar Board, a national honor society for college seniors, presented a Gold Torch award to its chapter at Rhodes College. The Gold Torch is a national distinction conferred annually upon the organization’s most outstanding chapters.
“We are extremely proud of our Gold Torch chapters. Their members set the bar for excellence as scholar-leaders on their campuses, and their innovative programming positively impacts their communities throughout the year,” says Dr. Abigail Diehl, Mortar Board’s national president.
Rachel Windmueller ’18, vice president of the Rhodes chapter, accepted the award at the honor society’s national conference held recently in Phoenix. The chapter is one of 37 earning the honor.
Founded in 1918, Mortar Board recognizes college seniors for their exemplary scholarship, leadership and service and encourages lifelong contributions to the global community. The Rhodes chapter was chartered in 1964. Robert DelBello ’18 is president; Darlene Brooks and Melissa Butler serve as chapter advisors.
