Rhodes College will be part of a bike-sharing program to enhance mobility and community engagement in Memphis.

A new bike station provided by the non-profit organization Explore Bike Share is scheduled to be installed on Dec. 16 at the Rhodes College Bookstore, located on the college’s West Campus.

Explore Bike Share provides a network of e-bikes (pedal-assist, electric bicycles) that can be rented on-demand from stations located around Memphis. A rider can purchase membership using a credit or debit card on the BCycle app or website, pick up a bike from a station to use, and return the bike at the original station or another one in the city.

“Our partnership with Explore Bike Share will provide additional, affordable transportation options for our students. Both the Turley Memphis Center and the Bonner Center will subsidize some of the costs for students who are working and serving in the community,” said Dr. Natalie Person, dean for community engagement at Rhodes.
