No. 25-Ranked Men's Cross Country Wins DIII South/Southeast Regional, Heads to NCAA Championship

The No. 25-ranked Rhodes College Men's Cross Country team won the 2018 South/Southeast Regional on Saturday, Nov. 10, winning their second regional title in the program’s history after keeping their No. 1-regional ranking all season. The Lynx secured the win in a field of 33 teams and 239 runners.

Rhodes averaged 26:12.49, while No. 31-ranked Emory placed second and averaged 26:20.49. 

Leading the way for Rhodes was junior Toler Freyaldenhoven’s fourth place finish in 25:43.93. Dominic Voehler ’19 and Adam Hearn ’19 rounded out top-10 finishes for the Lynx with seventh and eighth place just .26 seconds apart. With the top-35 runners earning All-Region honors, senior Spencer Fields concluded All-Region accolades for the Lynx with his 13th place finish in 26:14.63.

The final three runners for Rhodes included Reece Stevens ’19 (39th), Jared Briant ’22 (51st) and Ben Hazelwood ’22 (66th). 

This season marks the third straight year the Lynx have advanced to the NCAA DIII Championship.

Rhodes will race at the NCAA Division III Championship in Winneconne, WI, on Saturday, Nov. 17, at Lake Breeze Golf Club, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
