Prof. Michael Nelson Helps to Develop New Site Revealing Insiders’ Views of 2004 Presidential Election

Dr. Michael Nelson, a recognized Presidential scholar and the Fulmer Professor of Political Science at Rhodes, has helped to develop a new online resource for studying the 2004 Presidential Election. Nelson served as editor and the primary interviewer and researcher for the Election of 2004 website.

The site is maintained by the Center for Presidential History at Southern Methodist University and features interviews with key participants and scholars and new analysis of the issues. It is the first venture to go live in the center’s Collective Memory Project, an ongoing non-partisan oral history collaboration dedicated to enhancing the archival record of various presidential administrations.

Dick Cheney, Joe Trippi, Ken Mehlman and others share analysis, anecdotes, and road stories from election that pitted incumbent George W. Bush against John Kerry after bruising primary battles. All of the interviews are videotaped, and all are accompanied by transcripts. View the site here.
