Dr. Nikolaos Zahariadis, Mertie Buckman Chair of International Studies at Rhodes, received a Fulbright Specialist award in 2017 and recently finished his project in Rome, Italy. He gave several lectures there to graduate students on the impact of the European economic crisis and President Donald Trump’s foreign policy. He also presented a public lecture at the Center for American Studies, which was co-sponsored by the Fulbright Commission and the U.S. Embassy in Rome. It was attended by politicians, academics, and journalists with a simultaneous English-Italian translation.
The Fulbright Specialist Program sends U.S. faculty and professionals to share their expertise, hone their skills, and strengthen institutional linkages at academic institutions abroad. While in Rome, Zahariadis also explored scholarly collaborations and possible student and faculty exchanges between Rhodes College and LUISS Guido Carli University.
