Professors Share Classroom Stories About U.S. Senate Candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes ’01

Rhodes alumna Alison Lundergan Grimes, who is running for U.S. Senate in Kentucky, recently visited the campus. Commercial Appeal reporter Kyle Veazey had a chance to speak to Grimes′ former professors, Luther Ivory and Russell Wigginton, about her time as a Rhodes student.


In The Commercial Appeal article, Grimes credits Wigginton and Ivory as well as political science professors Stephen Wirls, Michael Nelson, and Daniel Cullen as influencing her.
Grimes graduated from Rhodes in 2001 with a B.A. degree in political science. She also served as a student trustee and in the Rhodes Student Government. She earned her law degree from American University. Currently, she is Kentucky′s Secretary of State.
