Dr. Erin Hillis, associate director of international programs at Rhodes, is this year’s chair of NAFSA Region VII: Association of International Educators. More than 500 individuals are expected to attend its upcoming regional conference to be held Nov. 10-14 at The Peabody Memphis. A number of immigration experts, government officials, and study abroad professionals will participate in this peer-reviewed conference.

In addition to workshops, a popular HBCU Forum, and more than 80 sessions, attendees will have the opportunity to tour local college campuses, including Rhodes.

Region VII is made up of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The leadership team, which Hillis chairs, includes 27 practitioners from across the region, each of them recognized by their organizations as leaders in international education.

Throughout the year, Region VII team members provide training and resources on issues important to higher and international education such as international recruitment strategies, overseas program management, and advocacy for vulnerable populations. They also participate in state, regional, and national conferences as well as attend annually offered Advocacy Days on Capitol Hill.
