Rhodes Alumna Pat Morgan Wins National Book Awards

Rhodes alumna Pat Morgan has won three book competitions for her The Concrete Killing Field:

  • Bronze Medalist: Independent Publishers 2015 IPPY National Book of the Year Awards
  • Bronze Medalist: Foreword Reviews INDIEFAB 2014 Book of the Year Awards
  • Second Place Winner: National Federation of Press Women’s 2015 National Awards

It is a memoir about her battle to break the cycle of homelessness. Morgan’s experience includes directing the Calvary Street Ministry in Memphis and serving in a dual position as a program analyst at the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness and as a special assistant at HUD in Washington, DC. Most recently, she served as the executive director of Partners for the Homeless, a public-private partnership in Memphis.

Morgan received a B.A. in Political Science in 1991.
