Rhodes Alumnus Dr. Tom Merrill Elected to National ACDA Office

Dr. Tom Merrill, professor of music at Xavier University and a 1982 Rhodes alumnus, has been elected to the office of National Treasurer by the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA). The National Treasurer has a four-year term beginning July 2017 and is responsible for the financial affairs of the association as governed by board policies.
 
“Tom’s exemplary leadership and dedication to ACDA make him a perfect fit for this national office,” notes Tim Sharp, ACDA Executive Director. “We welcome him to this role and in joining ACDA’s Executive Committee.”
 
Merrill has spent more than 20 years in higher education. He holds a bachelor of music education degree from Rhodes; master’s degrees in choral conducting and musicology from The Shepherd School of Music at Rice University; and a doctor of musical arts degree in choral conducting from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
