Rhodes baseball, along with the men’s and women’s lacrosse teams, won their respective Southern Athletic Association (SAA) tournament championships over the weekend, which guarantees their spots in the upcoming NCAA championships.
Needing just one win to clinch the conference tournament title, Rhodes defeated Berry College 7-6 on the road to win their second straight SAA Tournament Championship. The win is the second road title in a row for the Lynx, who will advance to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in the last five years.
A back-and-forth game early on between Rhodes women's lacrosse and Centre College quickly turned in favor of the Lynx in the SAA Tournament Championship, held at Mason Field on Saturday. The Lynx finished the game strong, 24-18. Rhodes is now 14-3 on the year.
Men’s lacrosse made history over the weekend, winning its first-ever SAA championship. The Lynx topped Sewanee, who has been in every SAA title game since the league was started in 2013. With the victory, Rhodes, which now sits with a 13-2 record, earned the league's automatic bid into the 2018 NCAA Division III Tournament.
Rhodes will find out who and where they play in all three divisions of the NCAA Tournament during the live selection show. Fans can tune in HERE on Sunday, May 6, at 10 p.m. ET for the results.
