Rhodes College has been ranked No. 10 in the small college category among Peace Corps’ 2025 Top Volunteer-Producing Colleges and Universities list. Five Rhodes alumni currently are serving in countries including Colombia, Costa Rica, Panama, and Vanuatu.

Rankings are calculated based on fiscal year 2024 data, as self-reported by Peace Corps volunteers.

The Peace Corps provides Americans opportunities to work in partnership with welcoming host communities abroad and to support global progress in agriculture, community economic development, education, environment, health, and youth in development.

“Colleges and universities from across the nation are providing us their talented alumni to serve in countries around the globe,” said Peace Corps Chief Executive Officer Allison Greene. “These top-ranked schools understand the transformative power of public service and human connection. The Peace Corps builds invaluable intercultural communication skills, a broadened worldview, and adaptive leadership qualities needed in the American workforce today.”

Sidney Marr, who graduated from Rhodes in 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in English, serves as a Peace Corps volunteer in Colombia, teaching English in a public high school and offering weekly community classes.

“My time at Rhodes taught me to critically engage with texts and literature, deepening my appreciation for the power of language. That skill has been invaluable in my role as an English teacher—because to truly grasp another language, you first need to understand the structure and nuances of your own,” said Marr.
