Rhodes College has been awarded a grant from the Arthur F. and Alice E. Adams Charitable Foundation to support the 2026-2027 performance season by Rhodes Theatre Guild (RTG).
Established in 2016, RTG provides a platform for students to lead their own projects while utilizing the college's resources and facilities. The student group selects each season’s shows, which are performed at the McCoy Theatre on the Rhodes campus.
The 2026-2027 season will kick off with The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, a one-act musical comedy featuring music and lyrics by William Finn and script by Rachel Sheinkin, conceived by Rebecca Feldman with additional material by Jay Reiss. Performances are scheduled for Oct. 30-Nov. 1 and Nov. 6-8.
In the spring, RTG will present Emma, a stage adaptation by Andrew Davies based on the 1996 film inspired by Jane Austen's novel. Performances are scheduled for Feb. 19-21 and Feb. 26-28.
RTG has consistently produced high-quality shows and received nominations for the Ostrander Awards, which honor the best in Memphis theater.
