Rhodes College teams competed in the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) Mid-Central USA competition, finishing first place in Division 1 and first and second place in Division 2 at their competition site (University of Tennessee at Martin) Oct. 31. The teams were coached by computer science faculty Hong Xu and Matt Superdock.

ICPC is widely regarded as the oldest, largest, and premier global programming competition for college students. Universities host site and regional contests that advance teams to the ICPC World Finals. In these five-hour contests, teams tackle complex algorithmic problems, with victory going to teams with the highest number of correct solutions.

Exceptional teamwork and the ability to withstand pressure are vital for success.
