Rhodes College faculty Dr. Casey Shin, Dr. Stephen Ceccoli, and Dr. Han Li in June presented a workshop to Mississippi secondary school teachers titled “Bringing Asia into the Classroom: Trade, Culture, and Global Connections.” The event was presented by the National Consortium for Teaching About Asia (NCTA ) in partnership with The Mississippi Council on Economic Education at Yokohama Tire Manufacturing Mississippi.

Founded in 1998, NCTA is an initiative to encourage and facilitate teaching and learning about East Asia in elementary and secondary schools across the United States. For more than 16 years, the Tennessee NCTA (TNNCTA) has joined this national network of institutions with the goal of providing on-site seminars, teacher resources, and travel funding.

The TNNCTA is housed at Rhodes College through both the Department of International Studies and the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures.
