Rhodes Field Hockey defeated Centre College 2-1 and clenched the Southern Athletic Association Championship title on Sunday, Nov. 4. The win is the fifth tournament championship victory for the Lynx in the seven-year history of the SAA.
Following the game, which went into double overtime and finally ended after shootouts, Rhodes players Jillian Christensen ’19, Meghan Harmon ’21, Nina Migneco ’20, and Daryl Perry ’20 were named to the All-Tournament team. Migneco was named Tournament MVP for her outstanding performance, tallying 13 saves in the game. The win moved the Lynx to 12-3 on the season.
In addition, Coach Lindsay Kasten, who joined Rhodes in 2017, was named the SAA Coach of the Year. In her first season, Kasten led the Lynx to a SAA Championship as the Lynx went 12-5 on the year and held an eight-game winning streak during the season. Rhodes went 6-0 in conference competition, winning the regular season championship for the fourth year in a row.
Rhodes will travel to Washington, PA, to face Washington & Jefferson College on Wednesday, Nov. 7, in the NCAA Tournament. The game starts at 4 p.m. ET.
