Facing massive power outages in Memphis caused by the recent ice storm, the Rhodes College mock trial teams quickly packed up and headed to Olive Branch, MS, to turn hotel rooms into courtrooms for Regional Tournaments hosted by Connecticut College and Pennsylvania State University via Zoom Feb. 5-6.
Rhodes B finished as Regional Champions with a perfect record after defeating teams from the University of Maryland, SUNY-Binghampton, Holy Cross, and Villanova in the tournament hosted by Connecticut College. The team also secured a bid to compete in the Opening Round Championships in March. The top six teams from the Opening Round Championships go on to compete at the National Championship tournament in April.
Rhodes is one of the sites hosting the Opening Round Championships in March.
Rhodes B team is made up of captains Maya Harris ’22 and Reese Conners ’24, Kate Buikema ’25, Kevin Caltry ’25, Anna Cole ’23, Mia Farraday ’25, Grant Slusher ’23, Emma Timmons ’25, and Bell Tucci ’25.

“I am always so proud of how amazing our students are no matter what circumstances they face,” says Anna Eldridge, director of Mock Trial at Rhodes. “This is one of the youngest groups of competitors we’ve had, and they all rose to the occasion and made the best of a bad situation.”
Rhodes A team tied for third place in the Regional Tournament hosted by Pennsylvania State University, also securing a bid to compete in the Opening Round Championships in March.
Rhodes A team is made up of captains Elizabeth Baldwin ’22 and Sheridan Hardy ’22, Julia Blackmon ’24, David Caddle ’23, Jemma Clary ’22, Ace Cole ’23, Sam Frank ’24, Veda Krumpe ’23, and Sam Walter ’22. Krumpe and Clary were named All-Region attorneys.
