Rhodes College sent a delegation of 10 members to the Tennessee Intercollegiate State Legislature’s (TISL) 55th General Assembly held Nov. 21-24 in Nashville, and two students won individual awards.
Hunter Rheinfrank ’26 won Best Lobbying CEO, and Sofia Lewis ’28 won Best Media Reporter.
At each TISL General Assembly, which is a simulation of state government and includes an Appellate Moot Court, students draft bills and amendments to express their views on state politics, participate in committees, learn parliamentary procedure and the legislative process, prepare briefs and argue a hypothetical case in the moot court competition, act as media covering and examining state politics, and advocate for or against legislation pending before the House and Senate. TISL’s Senate and House of Representatives, meet in the legislative chambers of the State Capitol.
Rhodes has participated in TISL since 2011. Dr. Thomas Goodman, assistant professor of political science, serves as faculty advisor.
