About a year and a half ago, math alumnus Ryan Carroll ’12 decided he wanted to teach inmates housed in downtown Memphis at 201 Poplar Avenue. “He called up here and just wanted to come and volunteer teaching some of the men here,” says Jacob Shock, director of Hopeworks, in an interview with WHBQ/FOX-TV. As a result of the program, seven men received their GED diplomas on Sept. 30. View more.
