Souper Contact Continues to Serve Community Throughout the Year

Serving the hungry and homeless of Memphis is year-round for the Rhodes’ Souper Contact, a student-run meal program.  Volunteers share food and friendships on Tuesdays at the soup kitchen located in the basement of St. John’s United Methodist Church (1207 Peabody).  As a coordinator through Rhodes’ Kinney Program, Hamid Shirwany helps organize its activities.

Souper Contact has been in operation since 1988 with several volunteers from Rhodes and the community returning on a regular basis to continue friendships they have built with participants. In this photo are volunteers from Buckman International.
