Students Discuss Satellite Project at AIAA Conference, Win Prize

Rhodes College Students accepting a prize at a conference

A Rhodes College team has been testing a four-inch cube satellite of their own design—dubbed RHOK-SAT—to be launched into space aboard a NASA-sponsored rocket in 2024.  Five students of the team— Ben Wilson, Olivia Kaufmann, Anas Matar, Marouf Mohammad, and Kairos Wong—got an opportunity to discuss their work at the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics’ 2023 Region II Student Conference held in Knoxville, TN, March 27-28.

For each presentation, students also had to submit an abstract and paper, which was read by a group of judges. Their paper on flight software took second place ($300) in the undergraduate competition. In the photo, Marouf Mohammad and Kairos Wong (l-r) accept the prize from the conference organizers.
