L. Angela Webb, associate vice president for campus safety at Rhodes College, was sworn in as the president of the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) at its annual conference held in New Orleans in June. She will serve a one-year term.

Webb has previously held leadership roles in the organization, including serving as vice president of finance and on the board of directors as director-at-large. In 2023, she became the first Black woman elected to the position of president-elect in the association’s history.

Founded in 1958, IACLEA is the leading authority for campus public safety and has more than 9,000 members, including police chiefs, public safety directors, law enforcement officers, and security personnel at higher education institutions. Members have access to a global network of campus public safety experts, who share best practices, solve problems, and set standards for the profession.

Webb joined the Rhodes College staff in September of 2023, after serving as executive director of police services and risk management at Southwest Tennessee Community College (STCC). Her responsibilities at Rhodes include leading, managing, and evaluating campus safety programs and services, providing strategic leadership in this critical area.

Prior to her tenure at STCC, Webb was an officer in the Memphis Police Department for 29 years, retiring from the department in 2015 with the rank of major. She currently serves as the president of the Memphis Metropolitan Association of Chiefs of Police.

Webb has received numerous honors and distinctions in her career, including a Resolution for Outstanding Leadership and Achievement from the Tennessee State Senate in 2021.
A native of Los Angeles, Webb holds a bachelor’s degree in applied psychology from Christian Brothers University and a master’s degree in operations management from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. She is also a graduate of the Leadership Memphis program and is immediate past president of the Memphis Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
