Dr. Cary Fowler Discusses International Advocacy Work at Rhodes

Dr. Cary Fowler, a distinguished agriculturist and the chair of the Board of Trustees at Rhodes College, came to campus to discuss his international advocacy work on Oct. 9. The event was sponsored by the Rhodes Department of International Studies and the Environmental Studies & Sciences Program. 

Q&A: Meet Aretha Milligan, Rhodes' New Director of Residence Life

After thirteen years moving up the ranks of residence life at The University of Memphis, Aretha Milligan has joined the Rhodes College community as the new director of residence life. She hopes to create more on-campus programming and revitalize the residential common areas in order to bring students together and make living on campus an integral part of the student experience.

Committee to Begin Review of Palmer Hall Name

A committee of Rhodes College trustees, alumni, faculty, students, and friends of the college will begin meeting this fall to consider whether to change or retain the name of Palmer Hall. 

Rhodes Accessibility Services Stays Ahead of the Curve with Name Change

This past year, Student Disability Services adopted a new name to better reflect their mission of promoting access and inclusion for all students, in all aspects of campus life: Student Accessibility Services (SAS). The change embodies a more positive, active attitude toward expanding accessibility and counteracts the stigma society often attaches to the word “disability.”

On Aug. 29, a mix of faculty, staff, and students gathered in Rhodes’ Hyde Hall as the strains of “I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)” and “Son of a Preacher Man” played in the background. They came for lunch and an intimate discussion about the life, music, and Memphis roots of Aretha Franklin, who died Aug. 16.

Meet Aly Ruhl: Rhodes' New Director of Greek Life

Aly Ruhl has been hired as Rhodes College’s new director of Greek life, leadership, and engagement. Her primary focus on campus will be supporting Greek life organizations, in addition to serving as an advisor to IFC (Interfraternity Council), NPHC (National Pan-Hellenic Council), and Panhellenic.
