Morgan Smathers ’14 recently was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Army.
Rhodes, in cooperation with The University of Memphis and the Departments of the Army and Air Force, participates in cross-town agreements that provide the opportunity for Rhodes students to enroll in ROTC.
While a student, Smathers served as president of the Society of Physics Students and a research assistant as well as participated in NASA’s Annual Great Moonbuggy Race. Through the ROTC Engineering Internship Program, Smathers spent three weeks shadowing contractors at all managing levels of the Corps.
She is a recent Rhodes graduate with a B.S. in physics.
