She specializes in medieval Spanish literature and culture, with an emphasis on its relationship to other European literatures.

Chanelle Benz joins the Department of English as an assistant professor. She received an MFA in fiction from the Creative Writing Program at Syracuse University. Dr. Benz’s short story collection, The Man Who Shot Out My Eye Is Dead, was published this past January by Ecco Press, and she has a novel forthcoming in 2019 entitled The Gone Dead.

The anything but ordinary life of Marian Keisker, from playing a pivotal role in the discovery of Elvis to helping build Memphis' feminist movement.

At Rhodes, she teaches a variety of courses that focus on urban and community sociology, culture and inequality, social problems and research methods.

Dr. Barron Boyd, director of Rhodes’ Buckman Center for International Education, has been elected to the Comenius Academic Club. Limited to 30 members, the organization is part of the Czech and Slovak Solidarity Council in New York and brings together intellectuals and artists to engage in the advocacy of a variety of subjects including science, education, art, and culture.

100 Years of Women at Rhodes

Students are getting a closer look at several Memphis neighborhoods, thanks to a series of panel discussions organized by the Bonner Center for Service and the Memphis Center at Rhodes College.

“I really love the type of dialogue we have at these events,” says organizer Karina Henderson ’18, who interns at the Bonner Center. “It’s a great opportunity for people to get to know more about Memphis.”
