“Our college’s demanding liberal arts curriculum has served our candidates well,” says Dr. Scott Newstok, co-director of post-graduate fellowships at Rhodes. “The Fulbright Program is increasingly competitive, which makes it all the more impressive that Rhodes students consistently earn these awards. 

The essay provides history about the early life of Abe Fortas, a Rhodes alumnus who served as U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice from 1965 to 1969.

Emily Sanders ’20 won an award for Outstanding Poster Presentation, and Andrea Pajarillo ’18 won an award for outstanding Oral Presentation.

Rhodes’ Postgraduate Scholarship Committee has selected Julie Coen ’18 and Caroline Clark ’15 to compete for the Luce Scholars Program, a nationally competitive fellowship program supported by the Henry Luce Foundation in New York. 

Rhodes College’s Postgraduate Scholarship Committee is endorsing three juniors to compete for the prestigious Truman Scholarship for 2018. They are Spencer Beckman, Dylan Craddock, and Anne Healy.

The competitive program accepts applications only through participating universities and offers one-year fellowships to uniquely qualified graduating seniors. Finalists will receive notifications in March 2018.

Rhodes seniors Jennifer Bitterly, Daniela Garcia, and Kathleen “Tate” Mulligan are competing for the one-year $30,000 grant.

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program provides grants for English teaching assistantships as well as for individually designed study/research projects. Winners will be announced throughout Spring 2018.

Anne Healy, Lily Flores, and Sophie Tsagronis are the first to receive the Buckman-Mollerup Global Leadership Awards, a new study abroad scholarship created thanks to the generosity of Bob Buckman and Joyce Mollerup.

Parker Pell and Ben Siegel launched a successful business venture connecting local homeowners needing odd jobs done with students who can do the work.
