The Rhodes Jazz Band led by Dr. John Bass, director of Rhodes’ Mike Curb Institute for Music, will participate in Grahamwood Elementary School’s annual Mardi Gras Parade Feb. 24.

Rhodes College follows the scholar-mentor model of liberal arts education, in which undergraduates work closely on research or creative projects with their professors. Ryan Hunt ’17, Hope Elliott ’18, and Natalie Prodanovich ’18, students of Dr. Jon Russ of the Department of Chemistry, have had the opportunity to work on a unique research project that combines two seemingly disparate fields: archaeology and chemistry.

The Rhodes College Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta (Alpha-Epsilon-Delta) is pleased to announce that the following students have joined the national history honor society.

Dr. Etty Terem, associate professor of history, was invited by Harvard Divinity School to speak at its conference on scholarship in Muslim Africa.

Dr. Mark Muesse, associate professor of religious studies at Rhodes, has published a new book titled Four Wise Men: The Lives and Teachings of Confucius, Buddha, Jesus, and Muhammad

Active listening is the goal of the Methodist Hospital Chaplaincy Internship, where Rhodes students learn to listen to and comfort hospitalized patients at Methodist North and Methodist University Hospital.

Rhodes is being recognized as a top producing institution for Fulbright U.S. Students for 2016-2017 by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

Claire Shapiro is president of the board of directors for Memphis Business Group on Health (MBGH) and accepted a national award on the organization’s behalf.

Like a beautiful blend of colors, Dr. Shira Malkin has fused elements of scholarly research with something intensely personal—her father’s artwork.  

This semester, Joel Parsons and Dr. Elizabeth Pettinaroli, along with the Memphis Cartonera fellows, have joined forces to produce “Memphis Cartonera: Cooperative Publishing, Art, and Action.”
