Rhodes College Gears up for New School Year; Classes Begin Aug. 19

Opening Convocation, which is the formal academic ceremony to welcome the new class and to begin the college’s 178th session, was held on Friday, Aug. 14. Classes begin on Wednesday, Aug. 19. The Class of 2030 comprises 400 students, who come from 35 states and 14 different countries. Seventeen percent are first-generation students; and more than 100 students will represent Rhodes as varsity student-athletes.

Rhodes Students Learn in the Great Outdoors of Wyoming

Eleven Rhodes students participated this June in the Rocky Mountain Ecology Maymester through the Teton Science Schools in Kelly, WY. Students also got to meet alumna Mickey Babcock, who established the Rhodes-Teton Science Schools collaboration.

Where There’s a Will Jirik, There’s a Way

Around campus, William Jirik ’18 is known for his saying, “Where there’s a Will, there’s a way,” and the business and economics double major has shown that, with enough determination, one can overcome obstacles and achieve what they set out to do.
