Rhodes College Receives $600K Institutional Impact Grant Focusing on Character Education

Rhodes College has been awarded a three-year Institutional Impact Grant of $600,000 by the Educating Character Initiative, a project of The Program for Leadership and Character at Wake Forest University. The Educating Character Initiative is funded by Lilly Endowment Inc. The college will use this grant to integrate character education into its liberal arts curriculum and student experience, as well as to support a re-alignment of the college’s motto—Truth, Loyalty, Service—which is featured on its seal.

Rhodes Students Learn in the Great Outdoors of Wyoming

Eleven Rhodes students participated this June in the Rocky Mountain Ecology Maymester through the Teton Science Schools in Kelly, WY. Students also got to meet alumna Mickey Babcock, who established the Rhodes-Teton Science Schools collaboration.

Around campus, William Jirik ’18 is known for his saying, “Where there’s a Will, there’s a way,” and the business and economics double major has shown that, with enough determination, one can overcome obstacles and achieve what they set out to do.
