Rhodes baseball, along with the men’s and women’s lacrosse teams, won their respective Southern Athletic Association (SAA) tournament championships over the weekend, which guarantees their spots in the upcoming NCAA championships.
Dr. Charles McKinney, the Neville Frierson Bryan Chair of Africana Studies and an associate professor of history, received the Clarence Day Award for Outstanding Teaching. Dr. Marsha Walton, a professor of psychology, received the Clarence Day Award for Outstanding Research.

The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) has announced that Rhodes has been awarded the 2017-2018 Commissioner’s Cup. The Commissioner’s Cup, formerly known as the Presidents' Trophy, recognizes the SAA institution with the overall best varsity athletic program.
She and her co-founders have assembled a nationwide team of “curators” in Memphis, New York, and Washington, D.C., to promote nonprofits and socially responsible businesses. Curators also are encouraged to volunteer 20 percent of their time to causes that matter to them personally.
The book is titled Political Economy of China-Taiwan Relations: Its Origins and Development. Prof. Chen’s teaching and research interests included the political economy of East Asian countries, China’s domestic politics and foreign relations, democratization, state-society interactions, and economic interdependence.
