Class of 2026 Members Selected for Fulbright Student Awards

Sophia Cracraft, Lydia Gold, Melate Kebede, and Erin McTigue—members of the Rhodes College Class of 2026—have been selected to receive Fulbright U.S. Student Awards for the 2026-2027 academic year. The Fulbright Program currently facilitates the exchange of students and scholars between the United States and more than 140 countries, and applications for 2026-2027 continue to be reviewed. Rhodes is among the top producers of Fulbright U.S. Students. Cracraft and Gold in Taiwan, Kebede in Bulgaria, and McTigue in Germany will serve as English teaching assistants in their assigned countries and as cultural ambassadors for the U.S.

Stoddard to Receive Award from American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

Dr. Shana Stoddard, associate professor of chemistry at Rhodes College, has been selected to receive the 2024 Ruth Kirschstein Diversity in Science Award from the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB). This is her second award this year from a national organization, having been awarded the Council on Undergraduate Research’s Silvia Ronco Innovative Mentor Award in May.

Project SEED Summer Program Inspires Young Students Interested in STEM

“Project SEED gives us an opportunity to make a significant contribution not only to the future of STEM, but also Rhodes College,” says Karen Mosley, chemical safety officer at Rhodes. “We can reach students from diverse backgrounds who have great talent, but limited opportunity. Through Project SEED, Rhodes provides that opportunity and, in the process, achieves its vision ‘to attract and retain a talented, diverse student body.’”

Rhodes Awarded $25K Grant from Teagle Foundation and NEH to Transform Search Curriculum

Rhodes College is updating and expanding its long-established Search program with the support of a $25,000 planning grant for the 2023-2024 academic year from the Cornerstone: Learning for Living initiative. Jointly sponsored by the Teagle Foundation and the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Cornerstone: Learning for Living initiative seeks to revitalize the role of the humanities in higher education.
