At the college’s annual Awards Convocation hosted by Academic Affairs on April 29, various Rhodes departments and programs recognized outstanding students.

This is a love story. It is not a typical story about the sciences. Or a stone-by-stone account of a new building. Or merely a tale of successful alumni. Yet, science and buildings and alumni play the main characters in this story. Other key characters are education and gumption. And that makes this a perfect love story about Rhodes College.

Dr. Scott Newstok and Dr. Carole Blankenship are recipients of Rhodes’ faculty honors for outstanding teaching and research.

Theodore Nollert will teach in Vienna, Austria as part of the Foreign Language Teaching Assistantship Program administered by Fulbright Austria on behalf of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education.

The latest app to come out of Rhodes College is Hound Dog, developed by Sam Reid ’16 and his longtime friend Sammy Gonzales-Luna of Princeton University.

A 2015 chemistry alumna has been awarded a National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship.
