New Louise Taylor and Annie Trawick Chamber Music Series to Celebrate Liberal Arts Through Music

The Louise Taylor and Annie Trawick Chamber Music Series has been established at Rhodes College, thanks to the generous support of Dr. Morris Reagan, a physician and member of the Rhodes College Class of 1960. The series is named for his mother and grandmother and will provide Rhodes students with experiences with professional chamber music performers as well as career opportunities in music.

Stoddard Receives a Fifth National Honor: Tyrone Mitchell Mentor-on-the-Map Award

Dr. Shana Stoddard, associate professor of chemistry at Rhodes, was presented the Tyrone Mitchell Mentor-on-the-Map Award at the 50th annual meeting of the National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers held Sept. 11-14 in New Orleans. This is Stoddard’s fifth award from a national organization since joining Rhodes in 2017.

Patricia Spears Jones ’73 Named New York State Poet

Rhodes alumna Patricia Spears Jones ’73 has been named New York State Poet by the New York State Writers Institute. The award-winning and critically acclaimed poet will serve for two years in the honorary position and receive a $10,000 honorarium.

Seaton Awarded Inaugural Research Grant from American Mathematical Society

Dr. Christopher Seaton, professor of mathematics at Rhodes College, is among 46 mathematical scientists from across the country who have been named inaugural recipients of the AMS-Simons Research Enhancement Grants for Primarily Undergraduate Institution (PUI) Faculty. Awardees will receive $3,000 a year for three years to support research-related activities.
