MOGL Brokers First-Ever Division III All-Athlete NIL Partnership for Rhodes College

MOGL, the leading provider of NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) technology and digital agency services, announced a historic partnership with Rhodes College, offering NIL opportunities and support to all Lynx student-athletes. Clean label sports nutrition leader Clean Energy will provide NIL deal and products to more than 150 student-athletes. The partnership is the first of its kind in Division III athletics.

Nelson to Discuss New Book on FDR’s Efforts to Change the Supreme Court

Dr. Michael Nelson, a recognized Presidential scholar and the Fulmer Professor of Political Science at Rhodes, has a new book out titled Vaulting Ambition: FDR's Campaign to Pack the Supreme Court. In the book, Nelson examines the decisions by Franklin D. Roosevelt to change the three branches of government, including the Supreme Court.

Rhodes College to Dedicate On-campus Golf Training Facility

Rhodes College golfers will be able to improve their game throughout the year, thanks to the Mike and Nancy Clary Golf Facility. The more than $464,000 indoor golf facility is named in honor of Mike Clary—head women’s golf coach and the longest serving Rhodes athletics staff member—and his wife, Nancy. Clary graduated from Rhodes in 1977, and the couple’s children, Brian ’01 and Julie ’04, also are Rhodes graduates.

Zahariadis Receives Third Fulbright Award

Dr. Nikolaos Zahariadis, Mertie Buckman Chair and professor of international studies at Rhodes, has received a competitive Fulbright Specialist Award. In May 2023, he will lecture and conduct research on COVID-19 public health measures in Europe at the University of Macedonia located in Thessaloniki, Greece.

Neighborhood Association Presents Service Award to Student Group

Roots at Rhodes, a student organization on campus dedicated to gardening and the study of plants, recently was presented the Mike Kirby Service Award at the annual meeting of the Vollintine Evergreen Community Association. The award—established in 2015 and named in honor of retired Rhodes urban studies professor Dr. Mike Kirby—recognizes volunteers who have rendered exceptional service to the association.

Nation’s 24th U.S. Poet Laureate Ada Limòn to Speak on Campus

Ada Limòn, the 24th United States Poet Laureate, will read from her poetry as part of the annual Jack D. Farris Visiting Writers Series at Rhodes College on Thursday, Feb. 23. Free and open to the public, the event begins at 5:30 p.m. in the McCallum Ballroom of the Bryan Campus Life Center on campus and will be followed by a reception and book signing.

Nasong’o Co-edits New Book on Kenya

Dr. Shadrack W. Nasong’o, professor of international studies, is co-editor of the new book The Palgrave Handbook of Kenyan History (Palgrave Macmillan, 2023) with Maurice N. Amutabi of Technical University of Kenya and Toyin Falola of the University of Texas at Austin.
