The January 24th issue of the Memphis Flyer features its annual “20 Under 30” list of individuals helping to shape Memphis’ future. Among them is Rhodes alumna Chloe Moore.
Throughout the fall semester, students grappled with and expanded their horizons through their interactions with city-based organizations that are combatting food inequalities.
Rhodes has been named one of the nation’s “Best Value Colleges” in The Princeton Review’s The Best Value Colleges, 2019 Edition. Only 200 schools were selected for the list, which evaluates academics, financial aid, career services, and more.
Turner, who will serve as a member of the college’s senior leadership team, will be responsible for helping Rhodes bring to life the ambitious goals outlined in the college’s emerging strategic plan, expected to be approved by the Board of Trustees in 2019.

Fun, experiential, and trippy. That’s how Erin Harmon, associate professor of art and art history, describes her latest work. Inspired by the city of Memphis and supported by the Rhodes community, Harmon’s Aggregate Optics of Make-A-Do will open at the University of Memphis’ Fogelman Galleries of Contemporary Art on Friday, Jan. 18.
Rhodes is the host institution for the 58th Annual Meeting of the Southeastern Conference of the Association for Asian Studies, which will be held Jan. 18-20. The conference features interdisciplinary paper/panel sessions, a workshop for high school teachers, and an exhibition on the history of Chinese Americans.
Chanelle Benz, assistant professor of English at Rhodes College, has been named one of the The Los Angeles Times “11 Authors to Watch in 2019.”
J. Bailey Hutchinson '13 has made a career writing and editing poetry and organizing community poetry events. She won five major poetry awards in 2018 and is organizing a summer poetry retreat this year.
