Around campus, William Jirik ’18 is known for his saying, “Where there’s a Will, there’s a way,” and the business and economics double major has shown that, with enough determination, one can overcome obstacles and achieve what they set out to do.

Nationally recognized education expert Kevin Kumashiro spoke to a packed room June 20 at Rhodes as part of the inaugural Urban Education Summer Institute. He also worked with urban education fellows and master’s degree candidates.

Dr. Leslie Petty, associate professor and chair of the English department, was named as the director of this year’s American Literature Association Conference. The 29th annual conference was held May 24-27 in San Francisco, CA. 

They have been analyzing residues from smoking pipes excavated from archaeological sites in Mississippi, Arkansas, Georgia, and Alabama for year, and they now have published a paper describing their discovery.

Kendall Cunningham ’18 made women's lacrosse history for the Lynx after earning third team All-American honors. Cunningham is also the first women's lacrosse player from the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) to earn All-American status.
