Phi Beta Kappa is America’s oldest collegiate honor society. Only about 10 percent of the nation’s institutions of higher learning have Phi Beta Kappa chapters.

Rhodes senior Matthew Huber and alumna Kayla Wilson have been offered the fellowships, following a national competition. The new awardees were selected from more than 12,000 applicants.

The music major is an intern at Royal Studios where many hits in the 1960s and ’70s were recorded, and she has produced her own EP, titled “DIALOGUE.”

While in Memphis for MLK50 events, Rev. Lawson spoke to a packed room in Rhodes’ Briggs Hall on April 5 about the history and changes of the country as well as the continued need for social justice. The Rhodes Board of Trustees earlier this year voted to confer the degree, and a brief ceremony took place prior to the talk.

A biomathematics major, she is one of 211 students nationwide to receive the Goldwater Scholarship for 2018-2019, which is the preeminent undergraduate award of its type in the fields of mathematics, the natural sciences, and engineering.

The research will be conducted by the James Webb Space Telescope, which is scheduled for launch in 2020.

Rhodes College participated in a bell tolling to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on the 50th anniversary of his assassination in Memphis. 

The Catherine Burrow Refectory will be serving Passover-friendly foods during the Jewish holiday, which starts on Friday, March 30, and ends Saturday, April 7.

Rhodes was represented at the 255th American Chemical Society National Conference attended by more than 10,000 chemists from around the world. 

The article proposes a new procedure for evaluating women who experience recurrent pregnancy loss. She published the article with Rhodes Biology Professor Dr. Carolyn Jaslow and Dr. William Kutteh of Fertility Associates of Memphis.
