Bridging the Gap: Self-designed Major Propels Maanasa Yepuru Toward Career Goal

Maanasa Yepuru ’26, a Rhodes senior from Memphis, has taken an innovative step toward a future in neural engineering by combining computer science with neuroscience to craft her own unique interdisciplinary major. Says Yepuru, “Rhodes’ unique offering of the self-designed interdisciplinary major afforded me the opportunity to develop interdisciplinary skills that align with neural engineering, where understanding the brain requires both computational tools and biological insight.”

Aly Ruhl has been hired as Rhodes College’s new director of Greek life, leadership, and engagement. Her primary focus on campus will be supporting Greek life organizations, in addition to serving as an advisor to IFC (Interfraternity Council), NPHC (National Pan-Hellenic Council), and Panhellenic.

Hundreds of students from around the U.S. and across the world moved into their dorm rooms in a matter of hours Aug. 17, as Rhodes College began its 170th academic year. The move-in got underway around 8 a.m., with campus security directing the long lines of cars to locations where staff and student volunteers would help unload boxes and other belongings into the residence halls. 
 

Q&A: Meet Beatrix Weil, Rhodes’ New Chaplain

After growing up on Long Island, NY, Rev. Beatrix Weil attended the University of Notre Dame and Princeton Theological Seminary. She was ordained in the Presbyterian Church (USA) and completed a one-year chaplain residency at Presbyterian College.
