Gottlieb Receives Second Fulbright Scholar Award

Dr. Eric Gottlieb, associate professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Rhodes College, has been granted a Fulbright Scholar Award to teach and conduct research in mathematics at the University of Primorska in Koper, Slovenia from October 2026 to February 2027. This is Gottlieb’s second Fulbright, having receive the award in 2004 to conduct research in Chile and teach calculus courses at the Universidad de Talca.

Rhodes’ Camp Codette Encourages Girls Not to Be Afraid of Computer Science

In 2017, women made up only 26 percent of the computing workforce, according to the National Center for Women and Information Technology. Professors Betsy Sanders and Brian Larkins of Rhodes’ Department of Mathematics and Computer Science say they hope that with programs such as Camp Codette, that percentage will surge in the future.

Rhodes College to Host U.S. Senate Debate Sept. 13

Editor's Note (Aug. 28)Rhodes College and media partners WMC-TV and the Commercial Appeal/USA Today Network-Tennessee have canceled the scheduled Sept. 13th U.S. Senate debate after Republican candidate Rep. Marsha Blackburn declined to participate. Democratic candidate, former Gov. Phil Bredesen, committed to participate in the debate three weeks ago.
